Historic Preservation Advisor (HPA) - Birmingham

We’re growing rapidly and looking for a Historic Preservation Advisor (HPA)
a relationship-driven professional who thrives at the intersection of restoration,
architecture, and construction.

Position Overview
The HPA is responsible for driving growth through consultative sales and client relationship development in both residential and commercial markets. This role combines sales expertise, technical knowledge, and a passion for preservation to identify client needs, craft tailored solutions, and guide projects from initial consultation through contract signing and production handoff.

Key Responsibilities
 Consultative Selling: Identify and qualify new opportunities through relationship building, networking, and proactive outreach.

 Project Development: Assess project scope, site conditions, and preservation requirements; prepare accurate, solution-oriented proposals using internal estimating tools.

 Client Engagement: Present restoration solutions to homeowners, architects, and contractors with clarity, professionalism, and historical context.

 Market Outreach: Represent Austin Historical at historic preservation events, AIA chapters, trade shows, and local community meetings.

 Collaboration: Partner closely with project management and production teams to ensure seamless handoff, communication, and customer satisfaction.

 Pipeline Management: Utilize CRM tools (Salesforce, Knowify, Google Workspace) to manage opportunities, maintain documentation, and report performance.

 Change Management: Draft and process change orders promptly during active projects.

 Brand Ambassador: Maintain a high level of product and industry knowledge and communicate Austin Historical’s mission of preservation excellence.

 Continuous Improvement: Seek feedback, pursue professional growth, and contribute ideas for enhancing sales processes and client experience.

Qualifications
 Proven success in sales, business development, or account management (construction or restoration industry preferred)
 Knowledge of architectural history, building trades, or historic materials is a strong plus
 Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to both homeowners and professionals
 Tech-savvy with strong familiarity with Apple products, G Suite, Salesforce, and Slack
 Self-starter with exceptional organizational and follow-up skills
 Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and ability to travel regionally (Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee)

Physical Requirements
 Ability to stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, and lift up to 25 lbs. when inspecting job sites
 Comfortable conducting on-site assessments of historic buildings, often in varied environmental conditions

Physical Requirements:

This role requires stamina and strength, as you’ll be on your feet for long hours, lifting up to 80 lbs, and working in varying temperatures. You should be comfortable with repetitive motions and heights, and on occasion, you will need to wear protective equipment.
